Alternative Fuels

The Railroad Commission operates programs related to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG, propane), compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Alternative Fuels are delivered to a station by natural gas pipelines. Before natural gas is sent to the station, impurities are removed from the gas by what is known as an inlet dryer. The inlet dryer then sends the gas to a compressor, which will compress the gas to the appropriate pressure to be used in Alternative Fuels vehicles. The priority panel will determine the gas flow sequence and the gas will typically be stored in on-site gas storage facilities.
