Texas Drilling Permit and Completion Statistics for June 2026

AUSTIN, Texas – The Railroad Commission of Texas issued a total of 750 original drilling permits in June 2026. The total includes 686 to drill new oil or gas wells, 6 to re-enter plugged wellbores, 1 field transfer, 56 for re-completion and 1 reclass.

The breakdown of well types for total original drilling permits in June 2026 is: 146 oil, 60 gas, 496 oil and gas, 32 injection, and 16 other permits.

In June 2026, Commission staff processed 965 oil, 739 gas, and 127 injection completions.
