Public Engagement Events

  1. October 18

    This field trip for 5th to 12th-grade teachers and university students explores subsurface energy technology and innovation. Participants will visit San Antonio field sites to learn about energy resource engineering and geology, and explore energy sector careers from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Organized by UT Austin’s Choose Energy K-12 Outreach Program and the Railroad Commission of Texas, the trip includes 8 CPE hours for teachers, lunch, and transportation.

    Registration is $25 and includes lunch, snacks, and water for all participants.

What We Do

Office of Public Engagement Mission

  • Serves as a liaison to the citizens of Texas in addressing their questions and concerns and ensures excellent customer responses.
  • Educates the public on the jurisdictional authority of the Railroad Commission of Texas and the impact of the Texas energy industry to the state, U.S. and global economies, and overall benefits to everyday lives.
  • Performs outreach to the public and internal and external stakeholders on state laws, Railroad Commission of Texas rules, and the agency’s procedures and processes
